The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) seeks to award a new 3-year contract to the National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) Ltd to deliver the nuclear innovation and research office – starting on 1.4.2020 and running to 31.3.2023, with the option of extending. The contract includes: providing Government with impartial technical advice on a range of nuclear policy, programmes and strategic issues; programme support to the BEIS nuclear innovation programme; representing government in certain international fora; and acting as a secretariat for the Nuclear Innovation and Research Advisory Board (NIRAB). The advisory function NIRO will be separated from NNL's commercial business by a series of ethical barriers.
