The Corporate Nursing Division of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) are planning on undertaking a rolling Programme of recruiting overseas nurses currently residing in the UK as an alternative to relocating nurses from overseas. The nurses have to undertake a number of assessments in order to gain NMC registration the first of which is an assessment of their English Language skills. Prior to 1st November 2017 the only test accepted by the NMC was the IELTS this has been deemed by Health Boards and trusts to be over reliant on technical English grammar skills rather than an assessment of safe and effective communication of Health Care related information. The NMC has taken this on board and announced that from 1st November 2017 they would accept the OET as an alternative to the IELTS. For this reason Aneurin Bevan University Health Board are looking to procure English language tuition specifically aligned to the OET.
