Old Priory External Joinery

Leominster Town Council is inviting Tenders for the provision of joinery works at the Old Priory building, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 8EQ. Scaffolding for all works has already been procured and is not required as part of this tender. The work will include:- The design, construction and installation of wooden framed windows and external doors for the Old Priory site. Detailed requirements for each window and external door to be replaced are provided in supporting documents. Design Requirements The design process should include the following elements - •Stage one: to attend a conception meeting on site, where brief requirements and restrictions will be confirmed. •Stage two: to supply 3 window design options, with visual examples and an indication of how the design conceptions could be mirrored in external door designs. •Stage three: to revise the preferred design option in response to feedback from Leominster Town Council and Historic England. •Stage four: to develop final design specifications and individual drawings for all windows and external doors. •Stage five: to revise the final design specifications and drawings in response to feedback from Leominster Town Council and Historic England. Production and Installation Requirements •New or replacement joinery works be constructed in kiln dried joinery grade Oak and sealed with 2 coats of clear U/V protection oil. •Glass: Double glazed units to be 4:12:4, toughened. Supplied and fitted with a minimum 5-year warranty. •Ironmongery details to be detailed individually on each window and door. Works must: •be completed by 10th March 2025 •include disposal of all waste material, meeting all legislative guidelines. •include appropriate lighting, signing and guarding to protect members of the public for the duration of the works and to meet all health and safety legislation. •ensure that all building materials and equipment are appropriately secured at all times to prevent any unauthorized access. •include issuing of all industry standard certificates for the works. •comply with all Scheduled Monument Consent requirements communicated by the client. •comply with all building control requirements. •leave the site clean, tidy and ready for use. Please note: a site visit is required prior to the submission of the tender due to the unique nature of the building. The successful firm must be able to demonstrate extensive experience working on historically sensitive and complex sites. Facilities: public toilets are located at the site, so no additional temporary facilities will be required. Access will be given for provision of a site office and breakout area. All tenderers are to complete sections 4-12 of the supplied RFT document and return their submission by Wednesday 9th October 2024 at 5pm to: joinery@leominstertowncouncil.gov.uk
