Feasibility Study for Oriel Davies, NewtownOriel Davies is a leading gallery of Wales and the most important visual arts venue in Powys. Between 2001 and 2004 our gallery premises went through a highly successful 2-Phase refurbishment programme.We wish to appoint an Architectural Design Team to work with the Gallery on a Feasibility Study for a 3rd Phase, to further develop gallery’s facilities for a strong and sustainable future.Oriel Davies is an independent contemporary art gallery, showing and touring the best visual art and craft from Wales and beyond. We are admired for our beautiful exhibition spaces, innovative artistic & learning programmes and excellent café and shop. Oriel Davies is based in the centre of Newtown, Powys’s largest town, and attracts c.75,000 visits annually.We are looking to appoint a Design Team, who together with our Arts Business Consultant, will work with ODG on the Feasibility Study to research and develop a 3rd phase capital project for our premises.Expressions of interest and tenders are invited from Architectural Design Teams by 23 December 2015.The fee for the Design Team is £14,000 + VAT (to include all expenses)The role of the Design Team in the Feasibility Study:-To develop the project up to RIBA Work Stage 2 to include:-•Building design proposals and costings for extension & solar panel installation, to be outlined to RIBA Work Stage 2-site investigation & topographical surveys-café bar extension design and relevant services-re-design of gallery shop, storage and costing of fixtures, fittings & equipment-rebranding, signage & poster boxes-landscaping & public walkway-planning consultations and applicationsDesign Teams tendering will be informed by 30 December if they have been shortlisted for interview.Interviews for the Design Teams will take place the week beginning 4 January 2016 at Oriel Davies Gallery, NewtownOriel Davies Registered Charity: 1034890NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=37598.
