Orientation Programme for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children in the care of OCC

Descriptions

Oxfordshire County council is seeking to commission a service to provide an orientation programme for asylum seeking children under our care. Every local authority has a statutory duty to provide suitable housing, education and health services to looked after children (LAC), including unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC)/young people spontaneously arriving in the county. The aim of the Orientation and Induction Programme is to help unaccompanied children and young people, arriving in Oxfordshire, to integrate into the local community and gain access to local services by providing information and relevant training to support their language skills./education as soon as they arrive in the county. The Provider will work in partnership with OCC's virtual school for LAC and care leavers to prepare a pathway into learning in Oxon or beyond for UASC over a four-week rolling programme. The provider will be responsible for finding and funding a venue which is suitable for the delivery of the programme in a geographical location near to where the young person resides.
