In summary, the Services comprise: The programme for Government (2020) commits to: "Commence research to examine [legal] arrangements for children under 16". The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Affairs and the Department of Social Protection wish to jointly commission research to:•Identify the mechanisms used in other countries to allow for the legal recognition of the preferred gender of children aged under 16•Provide practical advice on establishing mechanisms to recognise the preferred gender of children aged under 16 in IrelandThe Departments have agreed that while this is a joint project the requester in respect of this RFT will be the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Affairs, located at Block 1, Miesian Plaza, 50-58 Baggot Street Lower, Dublin 2, D2 XW14. References to the Department in this RFT shall mean references to the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Affairs. The Departments now wish to examine and learn from other countries that have enacted legislation, supported and engaged with gender recognition for under 16s. The research will examine the arrangements in place in other countries for legal gender recognition for children under 16 and provide practical advice to inform consideration of how the issue might be approached in Ireland.Further details in RFT document
