Oxygen Plasma Ion Source for the Cameca NanoSIMS 50L
Descriptions
The University wishes to appoint a Contractor or Contractors to supply a Oxygen Plasma Ion Source for the Cameca NanoSIMS 50L. The Cameca NanoSIMS 50L is one of these state of the art techniques and we are seeking to enhance the capabilities of this instrument by improving the spatial resolution of the oxygen beam used to image secondary ions. The University of Manchester will be home to a new national research and innovation centre in advanced materials, the Sir Henry Royce Institute (SHRI). The founding partners comprise the Universities of Sheffield, Leeds, Liverpool, Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial College London, along with National Nuclear Labs (NNL) and the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE). The Cameca NanoSIMS is one of these state of the art techniques and we are seeking to enhance the capabilities of this instrument by improving the spatial resolution of the oxygen beam used to image secondary ions. With this facility, we will provide users, from the UoM, from SHRI partners, other academic groups in the UK the ability to map almost all elements and isotopes in the periodic table at high resolution in order to better understand complex microstructures. Additionally the high-resolution oxygen beam will also be used to image other complex samples such as those found in the fields of cosmochemistry, geology and biology. NB. Please go to the clarification for ITT part A clarification.
