This notice at this stage is to purely gather market intelligence for the requirement detailed below.The purpose is described as: “Parents supporting parents for positive change”.The service must demonstrate that local Flintshire parents are trained and supported to offer peer support to other parents in Flintshire.The organisation will support parents to:Improve parenting skillsSignpost parents to other sources of supportEmpower and raise the confidence of parentsReduce isolation and promote social inclusionImprove education and health outcomes for familiesPromote the development and confidence of volunteersThe service is to be delivered by volunteers who live in Flintshire described as family mentors, visiting and supporting parents in their own homes; they will provide a wide range of services; the type and duration of support is based on the client families’ needs. The focus of the work is on facilitation and enabling parents to gain the skills and confidence to achieve their aims. Each family and mentor draw up a unique contract detailing the support and goals the parents want. All volunteers’ roles are similar.Volunteers must be managed by a staff team . All staff will take responsibility for volunteers, either informally or more formally through mentoring.The service will also provide a “drop in” service for Fathers and male carers.The service must be approved by Agored Cymru and City and Guilds to accredit the training offered to volunteers and parents.The service must have achieved The Investors in Volunteer Award.
