Partnership opportunity – Swansea Council “Services in the Community”
Descriptions
Swansea faces a number of challenges now and in the future, such as climatechange, poverty, health inequalities and jobs and growth. To tackle these we need towork together. To give current and future generations a good quality of life we needo think about the long term impact of the decisions we make.Swansea Council, as part of its cross-cutting service transformation programme “Sustainable Swansea – Fit for the Future” is keen to explore ways of working such as integration, collaboration & prevention in re-designing services that are sustainable long term. Principles which, are embedded within the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act in shaping how public services are re-designed in improving the long term economic, environmental and cultural well-being of Wales’ communities. The Council has launched a project titled “Services in the Community”, and wishes to work with other organisations from all sectors in partnership, and collaboration to develop opportunities to re-design services that communities need the most. The project is exploring how services in the community can be co-located and integrated from a focal point in community areas, designed on the principles of a community hub. Five pilot areas have been chosen: Blaenymaes, Townhill/Mayhill, St Thomas/Bonymaen, Clydach & Gorseinon.Types of services will vary dependant on the needs identified in each community but initial identified themes of support include:•Welfare benefit advice•Financial advice•Housing Advice•Employability advice•Community learning•Early years•Ageing well•Health & nutrition•Volunteering•Digital inclusionThe Council therefore is inviting informal dialogue and expressions of interest from all partners via the project lead andrew.hopkins@swansea.gov.uk or 07980938711A workshop has also been arranged for interested parties, community groups and council representatives, details of which can be found here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/swansea-services-in-our-communities-hosted-by-swansea-council-tickets-41598863320NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=75602.
