Descriptions
Contract Lots:Lot 1 — Transport for children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND), Children in Care (CiC) and Vulnerable Adults. Transport by minibus with and without a tail lift. This contract lot is for the delivery of transport for children with SEND from home to school and return with a passenger assistant/assistants provided by the Council where appropriate and CiC to designated venues and vulnerable adults to day centre or other facility as directed. The Contractor may need to supply a passenger assistant as indicated within the schedule. Wheelchair access may be required if indicated and children/adults may have poor mobility or other special needs. Contractors should submit a ‘rate per day’ for this contract and no waiting time is to be charged to this contract.Lot 2 — Regular or one-off ad hoc transport for children with SEND, Vulnerable Adults and CiC by taxi or people carrier. This contract is for regular journeys by taxi, people carrier or Hackney carriage for children with SEND, vulnerable adults or CiC. Journeys may include a passenger assistant provided by the Council if indicated. Wheelchair access may be required if indicated and passengers may have poor mobility or other special needs. Journeys may vary from single occupancy to multiple occupancy as indicated. Contractors should submit a mileage rate for this contract to include any variation from the start of the journey to the end of the journey. No waiting time is to be charged to this contract without prior agreement from the appropriate transport office.Lot 3 — This contract is for ad hoc journeys by taxi to enable identified residents of Wirral to access employment and training opportunities, especially those where no other public transport alternative exists. These journeys may change constantly. The Maxi Taxi scheme is part of the Wirral Travel Solutions project that supports Wirral residents back in to employment or training opportunities. The Maxi Taxi element is to support individuals travelling to locations not served by traditional public transport and to far or unsafe to cycle too, as such these individuals will be provided with 1 months worth journeys via a smart card. Funding for the scheme is due to cease on 31.3.2015, but if successful may continue for the duration of the contract period. A single supplier will benefit from this Lot as the smart card readers and technology will be fitted into provider taxis. Journeys will operate 24 hrs a day and training will be provided to the drivers in the use of the technology.Lot 4 — This contract is for ad hoc journeys by taxi to allow Wirral Councillors to travel to various venues across Wirral. This contract will allow Wirral Councillors to travel around Wirral on Official Council business. The times will vary and may include evening and weekends.
