Peatland Restoration Project Glen Ey NW 2024-25
Descriptions
The Estate has peatland habitat which is degraded through erosion or other modifications. CNPA have helped the estate to scope potential work areas which has led to the development of this project. Key details are provided in the table and map extract below. The selected site sits c14km southwest of Braemar on moorland at the head of Glen Ey, stretching up to the march with Fealar estate. The eroded peatland in this area spreads down from the watershed across gently sloping ground. The site is at an altitude of between 720 and 900 metres, with a mosaic of upland bog interspersed with some wet heath and rank grassland communities (M19 blanket mire, M15c and M16d wet heaths, with patches of U6d grassland).
