Pembroke Castle Earls of Pembroke Interpretation

Descriptions

The opportunity is for an interpretation consultant to deliver innovative interpretation in respect of Pembroke Castle. The Castle and Princes Project's objective is to deliver an authentic and distinctive heritage tourism product to present the outstanding medieval heritage connected to the Princes of Deheubarth and the Lords of the Southern March. The project has been part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Welsh Government in collaboration with CADW and Carmarthen County Council.Pembroke Castle's contribution to the Castles and Princes Project will be to create interpretation that ties the story of the Earls of Pembroke to the overall story of the Lords of the Southern March and the Princes of Deheubarth. The main emphasis will be on the importance of the Earls of Pembroke and their influence on the history of Wales and the UK.The main focus will be on converting a room which is currently a caretakers store room into an interpretation hub that tells the story of the Earls in an engaging and creative way. This will be through projected animation. It should be engaging and thought provoking, ideally with an element of visitor participation. In addition to this we will be looking to put in place interpretation that will encourage visitors to learn more whilst exploring the Castle's outer wards, rooms and passageways. This should be achieved through accessible interpretation mediums such as audio-posts, silhouettes, projected images and interactive touch screen multimedia. The interpretation should be relevant and interesting to all ages and should be available in both English and Welsh. It should take into account disabled access requirements. It should include the refurbishment of the room (currently a caretakers store room) in addition to the interpretation materials and equipment required.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=5965.
