PH0085 - National Child Measurement Programme Provider
Descriptions
Walsall Council is seeking a provider to deliver the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) programme across all schools in Walsall in year groups; Reception, Year 4, Year 6 and Year 10 and in special schools starting 1 April 2016 ending on the 31 July 2018 with an option to extend by an additional 2 years. The National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) provides the infrastructure for Walsall’s Children’s Healthy Weight pathway to monitor the weight status of children and young people and to deliver targets to halt the year on year rise in obesity. The surveillance component of the NCMP is a mandated function for local authorities and has two key purposes. These are to; •Provide robust public health surveillance data on child weight status: to understand obesity prevalence and trends at a local and national level, inform obesity planning and commissioning and underpin the Public health outcomes framework indicators on excess weight in 4-5 and 10-11 year olds. •Provide parents with feedback on their child’s weight status: to help them understand, support and encourage behaviour change and provide a direct mechanism for direct engagement with families who have underweight, overweight and very overweight children.
