Physical Activity, Signposting and Recovery Package Support Service for People Affected by Cancer. Brighton and Hove CCG ref 16.269

Descriptions

Modification - This notice has been updated to reflect a modification to this service to include a pilot scheme, for the same service as originally procured, in a neighbouring CCG area, for the period of one year plus an additional option to extend this arrangement for up to one further year, at an additional cost of £74,000 per annum. The temporary extension of this service into part of the NHS East Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group area is applicable from 1st July 2020-30th June 2021 in the first instance. The rationale for this modification is as follows: Funding has been secured to pilot cancer rehabilitation in part of the NHS East Sussex CCG area for one year. Going out to market to engage a provider for this short term pilot scheme would not be cost effective, as the supplier would need to train and accredit staff, locate and secure venues and establish pathways with an additional Trust (ESHT) and 11 clinical teams, without confirmation of any future funding arrangements. With this in mind, the existing contract for NHS Brighton and Hove CCG has been modified to include provision of this pilot scheme. Original notice Brighton and Hove CCG require that this support service for people affected by cancer will work as part of the cancer care pathway to strengthen interventions provided to ensure that cancer survivors feel supported, have an improved quality of life and reduce risk factors attributed to lifestyle choice. This supports recommendation 7 and 9 within the Independent Cancer Taskforce Review. The Provider shall: •Support people to carry out and sustain levels of physical activity. •Provide a range of physical activity programmes. •Increase the number of people living with and beyond cancer carrying out physical activity. •Raise awareness of the benefits of physical activity and other lifestyle choices for people with, or living with and beyond cancer participating in physical activity. •Deliver activities and information to people with, or living with and beyond cancer in a way that is meaningful and relevant to them. The service is required to commence 1st September 2017 and the contract period will be 3 years from commencement of the service with an option of Brighton and Hove CCG to extend by up to a further 24 months. The contract value indicated is for the three years of the primary contract period. The closing deadline for submission of Bid is 12:00 mid day on 15th March 2017 An electronic procurement process is being used for this procurement.
