The Welsh Assembly Government want to ensure that national planning policies for economic development are supportive of sustainable economic renewal and growth. This follows the recent publication of the Welsh Assembly Government’s research study to examine the planning application process in Wales and its recent launch of the Economic Renewal Programme.Therefore, the objectives for this research study are:-(A) To evaluate the effectiveness of exiting planning policy for economic development in delivering the Assembly Government’s economic development policies.(B) To explore and understand the role of economic development planning policy in delivering the Assembly Government’s new economic development policy set out in the Economic Renewal Programme.(C) To suggest the scope and content (including draft text) of future economic planning policy and guidance.The contract period will be 6 months from the contract award date - indicative timescales September 2010 to March 2011.
