Plymouth Park Landfill Infrastructure Renewal - Phase 1

Descriptions

The proposed infrastructure upgrade works at the site comprise 3 elements - drilling of 29 no. extraction wells; specify and supply of borehole pumps; install pumps, lay pipework and connect to well heads and fixed plant in control compound. The works are to be let in 2 Lots. This Notice applies to the first Lot only as described below.Phase 1 - works comprise drilling and lining of 29 gas and leachate extraction wells in a mixed waste (domestic and uncontrolled) landfill, which has been closed for over 20 years. Depth of wells ranges from 10 to 12.3 m. Wells, which are to be cased, will be drilled from a grassed parkland surface which requires suitable protection.The Phase 2 works will be the subject of a separate Notice and comprise all further work to complete the planned infrastructure upgrade, including selection of pump type to suit site conditions, supply of the pumps, installation of pumps in the wells and connection and laying of all pipework required for transport of the gas and leachate to the compound. Contract start date will be determined to suit the prgramme for planning permission, but is not expected to be prior to February 2012.
