Pontio ( the Welsh “ to bridge”) is a concept, a project and a brand new Arts and Innovation Centre being built in North Wales and scheduled to open in September 2014. A cultural beacon for the people of Wales and the Welsh language and a hub for the local community. Pontio will be home to a mid scale theatre,a studio theatre, a state- of- the- art 200 seat cinema, external performance space, a design and innovation centre, spacious lecture theatres,the students union,social learning spaces, a bar, cafes, restaurant and moreThe Pontio Bookshop is an integral part of this ground breaking initiative and it will have an important cultural role to play with a programme of cultural activities such as poetry readings, book promotions and themed events.
