PQ0437 - Education provider for the supported Internship Programme - AWARD

Birmingham City Council's (BCC) Children's and Young People's Directorate, 14-19 Full Participation and Skills Team will be running a Supported Internship (SI) Programme which will start in September 2023. As part of the programme we require an Education Provider who will work in collaboration with the 14-19 Team. The SI Programme will offer a structured work-based study programme that will support young people 16 to 24 year-olds with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and/or who have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). The aim of the programme is to offer a substantial work placement that will lead to paid employment. The 14-19 Team are working in collaboration with DFN Project Search, The National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTI), the Department for Education (DfE) and British Association for Supported Employment (BASE) who are our funding and delivery support partners. The programme will; o Start with twenty four young people on the pilot programme in the first year 2023 o Increase the number of young people on the programme year on year o Last for a period of 12 months o Will run for three consecutive years up to 2025 The placements for the twenty four young people will be in Digital Services, who are responsible for co-ordinating the delivery and collection of BCCs mail, Customer Services Division, which provides a range of professional services to enable citizens of Birmingham to engage with the city council and employs approximately 450 members of staff across a number of areas, and Business Improvement and Support, who lead, shape and deliver high quality administrative services which make a positive difference every day to customers, businesses and visitors to Birmingham. The provider will be expected to provide a minimum of 2 days a week educational content and provision to support the 3 days a week of practical work experience. The Invitation to Quotation is being issued using the Council's e-tendering system In-tend and the remainder of the procurement process will be managed using the system.
