The Council requires Presenting Officer services in respect of disciplinary cases in respect of allegations of unacceptable professional conduct, serious professional incompetence or a relevant offence.Presenting Officer services will involve the following requirements:•drafting of allegations to be contained within the Council’s Notice of Proceedings;•identifying any witnesses and arranging for them to attend the hearing, including arranging a court summons if required;•liaising with witnesses to prepare witness statements and briefing them accordingly prior to a hearing;•determining and collecting the evidence to be presented. This will include evidence from courts, police forces, employers and others;•liaising with relevant parties, for example, courts, police forces, employers, the teacher’s representative and witnesses;•a preparatory briefing meeting with Council Fitness to Practice officers prior to a hearing. This can be conducted face to face or by telephone;•presenting the case at a Fitness to Practise Committee including questioning of the witnesses and the registered teacher/applicant, where appropriate.
