Cardiff University through the FLEXIS project is looking for a company that would provide a pressure-tapped hydrostatic core holder complete with a syringe pump for applying confining pressure, an external heater mat with temperature controller, pressure sensors, and core sleeves.The existing Multipurpose Gas Laboratory at Cardiff University's Geoenvironmental Research Centre (GRC) is currently used for core flooding experiments on coal cores measuring up to 0.1 m in diameter and 0.2 m in length. This facility is used to study high pressure gas flow in coal set in the context of carbon sequestration in coalbeds, but has the limitation that the time taken for gas to flow across the core is not sufficient to observe some important aspects of the behaviour. The new equipment will enable tests on larger coal cores where there is more time for important coal-gas interactions to take place.
