Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board (ABMU) and Hywel Dda Health Board have a requirement to award contracts for the provision of high quality NHS orthodontic services to be delivered in a primary care setting for patients in their respective localities. A joint tender process is being undertaken but contracts will be awarded by each Health Board independently.Contracts would be offered under the terms of the NHS (Personal Dental Services Agreements) (Wales) Regulations 2006. Providers must therefore meet all the legal requirements of the Personal Dental Services (PDS) contract and have demonstrable recent experience of successful delivery of specialist orthodontic services.The populations to be served are those of the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend localities of the ABMU Health Board, and the Carmarthen, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion localities of the Hywel Dda Health Board. Services are to be provided to persons under the age of 18 years at the time of the case assessmentIt is anticipated that services will be delivered from the Bridgend, Swansea and Carmarthen localities. The provider/s will initially be expected to deliver the following Units of Orthodontic Activity (UOAs) per annum:Bridgend locality:circa 7,500Swansea locality:circa 10,500Carmarthen locality: circa 5,000The initial contract term will be 3 years; extension beyond that will be subject to negotiation.The procurement method will be by invitation to tender
