PRN - 004098 - The Construction of the New Newark Fire Station - AWARD

Descriptions

This procurement opportunity is for the construction of the new Newark Fire Station, Nottinghamshire. Further details and the Pre-Qualification questionnaire are available to download via our eprocurement portal as detailed below. DESCRIPTION: The existing Newark Fire Station and the site is wholly owned by NFRS. The main station building is of CLASP construction and was built in 1963. The remainder of the site comprises largely of storage and garaging of traditional construction dating back to circa 1915, and does not appear to have had any major refurbishment. Including this storage and garaging space, the total existing building floor area is in the region of 1,382 square metres. The station is currently considered too large, the layout impracticable, expensive to maintain and run and is now beyond its original life expectation. The project is to take place on the site of the existing Newark Fire Station on Boundary Road in Newark including the demolition. The new station is to be a 24-hour operational fire station on the existing site with the capability to accommodate sufficient whole time pumps and operational crews. Accommodation is to be provided for full-time equivalent staff including one Station Manager, the ridership for one 'hybrid' WDS section with the role of specialist rescue having a total ridership of 40 split across four watches, and the ridership for one RDS section. It is planned that on site demolition and construction shall commence March/April 2017 with final site boundary completion of the New Newark Fire Station by June 2018. THE PROJECT OBJECTIVES The seven principle objectives of the project are to: o Build a new fire station at NFRS's existing site on Boundary Road, Newark. o Complete the project within the allocated capital budget o Achieve completion within the programmed timescales. o Meet the operational requirements of a fire station o Conform to the needs of NFRS's accessibility standards o Ensure the design maximises passive energy efficiency measures and in doing so reduce energy use and carbon emissions o Include within the design measures to reduce impact of future maintenance and running costs. Bidders are invited to complete the PQQ which is available to download via NFRS eprocurement portal In-tend and to submit it, together with any requested supporting information, to the contact point by the due date for return via the In-Tend eProcurement System.
