Electromagnetic unit. Procurement of EMP Test Equipment.The MOD requires Pulsed Current Injection (PCI) and Continuous Wave Immersion (CWI) capabilities that perform in accordance with the UK High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) standard — DEFSTAN 59-188 (or the equivalent US MIL-STD-188-125). These 2 capabilities are to be owned, operated and supported by the MOD. Any specialist proprietary parts needed for repair of the PCI/CWI equipment will need to be sourced from the successful supplier; any non-proprietary repairs or calibrations will be carried out under existing MOD repair contracts.This procurement should include the following as a minimum:— Equipment which is capable of producing the E1 and E2 parts of a HEMP PCI pulse.— A versatile and adaptable method of coupling the PCI pulse into various systems.— The PCI system should not use Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) as an insulative material.— CWI antennas which are capable of producing the required field strength between 1MHz and 1GHz.— All test equipment associated with capturing and recording test data for PCI and CWI testing.— A software programme which is capable of controlling the PCI and CWI test systems.— Training should be provided by the supplier for use of the PCI and CWI test systems.
