Procurement of low ground pressure all-terrain vehicle and associated implements for Natura 2000 sites

Descriptions

NRW is seeking to award a contract for the supply of 1 x multi-functional low ground pressure all-terrain vehicle which can carry and power a range of implements required for the restoration of sensitive wet peatland sites with a significant (>5 m and up to 10 m) depth of saturated soft peat. The machine is is required to continue the implementation of the restorative and maintenance works undertaken on a number of Natura 2000 sites as part of the Anglesey and Lleyn Fenns LIFE Project and the Marches Mosses Bogs LIFE Project and to ensure that the requirements of the AfterLIFE plans are undertaken. The main use of the machine will be in cutting and collecting vegetation from degraded bog surfaces. This is needed to remove or reduce the abundance of problematic herbaceous and low woody species, and as a pretreatment for follow on groundworks aimed at restoring the hydrology of the sites by creating impermeable barriers to drainage. The machine will also be used to tow/power a range of powered and passive implements and to transport bulky materials on and off sites.
