Production of Tables of Statistics for NSW Data 2016/17

Sport Wales has commissioned large scale surveys of adult participation levels in sport and leisure in Wales since 1987. In 2016, our biennial Active Adults Survey was incorporated as part of the new National Survey for Wales. This new survey combines our Active Adults Survey with the original National Survey (Welsh Government), the Welsh Health Survey (Public Health Wales), the Arts in Wales Survey (Arts Council of Wales) and the Wales Outdoor Recreation Survey (Natural Resources Wales). Sport Wales’ National Survey for Wales data forms a base from which to develop and inform further research, policy, planning and programmes.The scale of the Survey data and the requirement for statistics at a range of geographies –local authority, health board, region, macro region, and national levels – means that Sport Wales require a contractor to populate a large set of tables of statistics from the National Survey for Wales data file (SPSS file includes data weights) for publication and circulation. Sport Wales is a provider of Official Statistics, and the preparation, presentation and release of all statistics produced under this brief must be produced within the scope of the Code of Practice for Official Statistics.The data tables should be presented as ‘open data’ . This means that they should be designed to be machine readable in addition to being aesthetically pleasing for the traditional user e.g. removal of unnecessary spaces between rows and columns (instead use column width to create space), .csv file format, etc..Sport Wales will provide a draft template of content for all tables, ready for completion. A syntax file used to calculate previous tables will be provided with the template.
