The Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) is the United Kingdom's major centre for fusion research and has extensive facilities to confine and study the behaviour of a plasma in the conditions and dimensions approaching those required in a fusion reactor. In addition other areas of high technology design and research are undertaken on the site.The UK contributes to fusion research through the United Kingdom's own programme and through contributions to the Joint European Torus (JET) project, which is Euratom's flagship fusion experiment.As part of the United Kingdom's domestic programme, CCFE undertakes design studies of fusion engineering systems to be built for the International Tokamak Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, of which the UK is a member (via Euratom).CCFE has now entered into Multi-Supplier Framework Agreements for Professional Engineering & Technical Services in support of its UK domestic and international fusion programme, contributions to the next generation of fusion machines such as ITER and other areas of high technology research.Professional Engineering & Technical Services for the above activities include:Original equipment designs (including, but not excluded to, mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation and remote handling) that comply with functional specifications, statutory requirements, recognised international codes and any additional nuclear/fusion specific standards necessary to meet the demanding operational environment.Undertake advanced thermo-mechanical, magneto-structural, physics and neutronic analysis to substantiate function and structural integrity. The analysis shall be fully auditable and of sufficient detail to satisfy CCFE and third party (statutory) scrutiny.Provide resources that are professionally qualified with an accredited professional institute appropriate to the technical task performed.Provide in-house resources with a proven record of accomplishment.These Contractors will complete a succession of discrete technical work packages at their premises, using their established in-house facilities. Each package shall be bid for by the pre-selected framework contractors.The persons shall be sufficiently competent in the technical fields required by the contract and possess at least the following:Minimum 3 years professional experience in a technical area relevant to the role required by the contract of work to which they are being allocated.Appropriate professional qualifications as defined by UK Engineering Council, European (FEANI) / International (IEA)or technical discipline equivalent. At least 12 months service with the professional technical services Contractor prior to commencing work on any work package as part of this contract.In additional to IV.3.2 notice 2012/S 187-306431 dated 28.9.2012 further amended the original notice.
