Descriptions

English Heritage manages over 400 historic properties across England as well as offices and stores some of which are also listed buildings. The historic properties contain both historic and non historic assets. They vary significantly in age, size, complexity, geographical location and type ranging from furnished historic houses, ruined castles and abbeys to prehistoric and Roman remains, industrial sites, gardens and statues. Almost all are protected as scheduled ancient monuments and/or listed buildings, registered historic gardens, conservation areas and a few are World Heritage Sites. English Heritage is required to conserve and maintain these properties for the enjoyment of present and future generations. The framework will cover quantity surveying services in connection with works projects and will be let in Lots by geographical area. The Lots are set out below:Lot 1B: North Territory (Northumberland, Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire and Yorkshire);Lot 2B: East and London Territory (London, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Rutland, Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire);Lot 3B: South Territory (Kent, East Sussex, Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Isle of Wight and West Sussex);Lot 4B: West Territory (Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Bristol, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly); In addition the framework will cover the following services: advising and preparing standard contract documentation; giving expert advice in connection with and in preparing cost analysis. The remainder of English Heritage (which provides planning and conservation services and advice) will operate under the new name of Historic England, but will remain as the same legal entity. As the framework will cover work on the the National Heritage Collection, it may need to be novated across to the new charity with effect from 1.4.2015.
