Project Management for the development, writing and delivery of Interpretive Media in the Blaenavon

Torfaen County Borough Council wishes to appoint a specialist consultant to project manage interpretation projects for the Forgotten Landscapes Partnership (FLP). The appointed consultant will be required to:•Project manage all stages of interpretation work, up to and including the installation stage.•Work closely with the Forgotten Landscapes staff team, working from the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre for a significant proportion of time.•Develop the storylines and content of interpretation through significant community consultation. •The consultant will be responsible for running community workshops and providing training for community groups to develop their own interpretation plans, giving them the skills to refresh interpretation in the longer term. This will involve some evening work. (Minimum of 4 groups engaged)•Write interpretive content for installations and media.•Lead on the production of design briefs for interpretive installations and media.•Prepare tender documents for the appointment of specialists’ contractors to produce and install interpretation features and media. •Manage the commissioning and work of contractors on behalf of the Forgotten Landscapes Partnership.Overviews of the projects included in this brief are listed below:Website and Pre-visit Information (see LCAP VMC1):Improvements to World Heritage Site website (http://www.world-heritage-blaenavon.org.uk) including addition of new content, an interactive map, blog and links to social networking sites.Principle Gateways (see LCAP VMC3): Orientation and interpretation panels situated at 2 Key sites (Principal Gateways) in the landscape and display at Abergavenny TICWorld Heritage Centre - Exterior Improvements (see LCAP IOS1) Story telling chair and topographic map for installation in the grounds of the WHCWorld Heritage Centre - Interior Improvements (see LCAP IOS2)Six information panels covering aspects of the FLP area and the role of World HeritageSecondary Gateway Installations (see LCAP IOS3)Four gateway installations with information and interpretation panels, interpretive installations on promoted routes, printed and downloadable trail leaflets, geo-caching trailsMobile Media: Mobile Interpretation (see LCAP IM2)The production of a Forgotten Landscapes tour, including interpretive media content, which users can download to mobile devices including PDA’s and Smartphone’s.Bluetooth Download Provision (see LCAP IM3)Integration of download points into interpretation panels to allow download of additional material to mobile devices when out in the landscape.Travelling Exhibition (see LCAP EV2)Three pop-up banners, a low-tech interactive model (e.g. reavealer wheel) and leaflet dispenser for use as display material at events and for temporary installation in local facilities.
