Staffordshire County Council is contracting on behalf of Cannock Chase District Council, East Staffordshire Borough Council, Lichfield District Council, Newcastle Under Lyme Borough Council, South Staffordshire District Council, Stafford Borough Council, Staffordshire Moorlands Council and Tamworth Borough Council for the provision of a Home Improvement Service for Staffordshire.The new service will help older and disabled people, including children, maintain their independence in a safe home environment. This can mean providing information and advice, identifying home hazards, carrying out small repairs or helping to organise larger repairs or adaptations.The overall aims are to deliver service improvements and to achieve greater efficiency for Home Improvement services across Staffordshire, which means:— maximising the number of older and disabled people assisted to live at home;— helping older and disabled people to understand their housing options and exercise control in where they choose to live;— promoting an integrated and holistic service through a single assessment;— providing service delivery appropriate to both diversely populated urban settings and sparsely populated rural areas;— targeting services at those most in need;— increasing the level of funding from households who can pay for services;— delivering ‘value for money' for fees paid by local authorities and costs and charges paid by service users in relation to the work delivered;— delivering a high quality service in a prompt and timely manner that achieves good service user outcomes and high levels of customer satisfaction; managing the administration of the DFG process; and achieving overall Best Value by taking into account the economic, environmental and social value of the service in line with statutory guidance.
