Provision of a scoping exercise to identify important evidence gaps related to the changing world of work during and following the Covid-19 pandemic and the effect on work-related musculoskeletal disorders

Descriptions

HSE's Health and Work Programme is designed to deliver HSE's Health and Work strategy - aimed at tackling the continuing high level of workplace ill health across GB workplaces. HSE has identified three priority strands for interventions: occupational lung disease; musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and work-related stress. HSE undertook a fast track exercise to identify the science and evidence needed as a result of COVID-19 to underpin its regulatory activities and decision making. These needs include evidence related to the changes in working practices likely to result from the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact on prevalence and control of MSDs. HSE requires the contractor to conduct a scoping exercise to identify the following: •How the working environment may change as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic; •How these changes may affect the risk of MSDs and effective risk control measures; •What the key evidence gaps are. HSE will use the findings to inform decisions on priority evidence needs to take forwards and Areas of Research Interest.
