Awarded
Provision of an Existing Antimicrobial to the NHS in England
Descriptions
This procurement was conducted by NHS England. The contract entered into pursuant to this procurement is between the successful supplier and NHS England ( previously the National Health Service Commissioning Board). Organisations wishing to participate in the procurement had to have at least one EU licensed antimicrobial that had a UK launch dated on or between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2019 and that was active against one or more pathogens on the World Health Organisation priority pathogen list. There were no limits on the number of antimicrobials that an organisation could offer. Contracts awarded pursuant to the procurement are for use by the Department of Health and Social Care, Public Health England, the NHS in England, and by private sector healthcare contractors and agents working on behalf of the aforementioned. The successful supplier is responsible for supply of the selected antimicrobial from 1 July 2022. The duration of any contract awarded is for an initial period of three (3) years, with the option to extend (by mutual agreement) for an additional period or periods up to seven (7) years. Note that the contract value stated (£100 million) is not the exact contract value, as this cannot be published for reasons of confidentiality / damage to commercial interests. However, the contract value is broadly commensurate with the advertised value of £100 million.
