About the Opportunity: The London Borough of Camden (LBCamden) is proposing to award a concession contract for the provision of a café service to the London Borough of Camden Council building at 5 Pancras Square. The site provides a combination of community services for resident and office accommodation for Council staff. The building has been specifically designed to provide a modern, environmentally friendly setting with fantastic new public facilities for residents, and efficient and flexible working spaces for staff. The building consists of a basement and lower ground floor where there are two public swimming pools and a leisure centre which includes: • A 100 station gym with the latest cardio-vascular (e.g. steppers, running machines, bikes) each with their own TV’s and internet access and a range of free weight and core strength training equipment. • 25m pool with full disabled access, i.e. a moveable floor that can be raised to deck level, and a small learner pool with water features for children and families and poolside sauna and steam rooms • There is a comprehensive school and public swimming lesson and development programme, and a diverse programme of group exercise classes, including Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Pump, Step, Spin and combat style fitness sessions. The upper ground floor and level one includes the following: • State of the art library for residents and visitors with free Wi-Fi, books, e-books and digital resources for people to borrow or study • Space to study and relax, meet friends or join a group • Gain assistance to access Council services online with the free to use PCs, and friendly, helpful staff • A wide range of activities for children, young people and adults including rhyme time for under 5s, Maths Club, gaming tournaments, book groups and opportunities to learn new skills • A dedicated space designed by and for young people • A Job Zone where careers and employment advice is provided • Visitors will be able to purchase refreshments from the café and browse through the library Levels 2 to 11 are office accommodation for Council staff. The building: • Allows London Borough of Camden to draw many services into one place, grouping people around the customer journey rather than by departments • Has become the focal point for face-to-face customer access with services grouped within the building to enhance the way we deliver services • Helps us collaborate much more efficiently both within our organisation and with our partners, with more break out areas for information catch ups The building has achieved a BREEAM sustainable design rating of ‘outstanding’, the first of its kind to achieve such a high environmental standard. BREEAM is the world’s foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings. The building includes two cafes, one located within the library/access centre area on the upper ground
