Provision of Catering Services to Caldicot Castle

Monmouthshire County Council is seeking to appoint a contractor to provide catering services at Caldicot Castle. The castle dates back to Norman times and is situated in a wooded country park. It offers a distinctive, unusual and atmospheric venue for weddings, banquets and other events. It is open to the public from Easter until the end of October, with catered events taking place throughout the year.Catering and wedding accommodation is available in the restored medieval gatehouse. It comprises the Banqueting Hall seating up to 120 people, the Guardroom and Solar Room which are suitable for smaller parties. There is also a tea room that operates during public opening hours.The Council is looking to work in partnership with a contractor to improve the infrastructure at the site. It intends to let the contract for a period of 5 years with an option to extend for two years in one year increments. This investment will enhance the income generating capacity of the site, and will include improvements to the kitchen, Banqueting Hall, tea room and refurbishment of the toilets. With improvements the potential annual income could be £500,000.00.
