Provision of Climbing (for after school sessions) Services For Young People

Services available for Young People of RCT have changed and have been re-branded Services for Young People. The services on offer open doors for young people and provide opportunities to excel in various fun activities whilst learning a variety of life enhancing skills. Community Focused Schools and e3+ have now been fully integrated with the youth service to create a new department which includes all the key services available to young people. This newly created service is delivered through 12 cluster areas based around the English Medium Secondary Schools. These are:1.Aberdare2.Blaengwawr3.Mountain Ash4.Pontypridd5.Hawthorn6.Bryncelynnog7.Y Pant / Llanhari8.Tonyrefail9.Tonypandy10.Treorchy11.Ferndale12.PorthRCT Council has previously set a framework of approved suppliers to deliver the services for young people aged 11-25yrs. Climbing is in high demand from young people in RCT and there is a need for young people to access the provision locally so that they can attend straight after school hours. A climbing facility is required within 30 minutes travelling time of a cluster area, which is available in all weather. Facilities available must support the progression of young people in climbing and offer opportunities to gain accreditation in climbing and allow young people to use a variety of kit such as specific climbing shoes. As the provision is for after school activities, the venue will need to be within no more than 30 minutes travelling time from at least one of the cluster areas. A maximum of 6 suppliers will be appointed to the framework for Climbing. At least 1 of these must be able to deliver the activity in the medium of WelshFramework GuidanceDelegated users of the framework will have two options for appointing suppliers off the framework.Option 1 – Direct Appointment – to be used by individual E3+ co-ordinators from each schoolOption 2 - Mini Competition – to be used for piloting schemes and collaboration opportunities between schools.Aims To deliver integrated programmes of personal and social education that are needs led, empowering young people to have a real voice and choice and to reach their full potential as active and respected citizens within their communities. Objectives To provide Climbing sessions to young people on a local levelScopeThe framework will initially run for 2 years with an option to extend for a further period of up to 1 plus 1 year. There will be a maximum of 6 suppliers appointed to the framework for Climbing at least 1 of these must be able to deliver the activity in the medium of Welsh.Requirements•Suppliers should be suitably qualified and/or have relevant experience in Climbing •Suppliers must have the necessary coaching qualification for Climbing•Suppliers must record and monitor the activities and report in the format in accordance with the requirements by SFYP and WEFO •Risk Assessments must be carried out for Climbing•Suppliers must hold a current enhanced CRB check or be willing to undergo a CRB check if they are appointed to the framework•Suppliers must identify and deliver the Climbing activity in accordance with any health and safety requirements•Suppliers must provide their own materials and equipment
