The EPA is the drinking water quality regulator, responsible for enforcing the European Union (Drinking Water) Regulations 2014, as amended (hereafter referred to as “the Drinking Water Regulations”). The EPA’s Office of Environmental Enforcement ensures that drinking water supplied by Irish Water meets the standards of the Drinking Water Regulations. The EPA is seeking technical assistance with the undertaking of inspections of drinking water treatment plants, to supplement the EPA’s own resources.
