Service DetailsWrexham County Borough Council’s Fostering service currently has a backlog of Form F assessments, used to assess the suitability of potential foster carers.Our Children’s Social Care Department is seeking to engage the services of three Foster Carer Assessors who are committed, independent social care professionals with a sound knowledge of fostering legislation and practice who are able to carry out assessments from Stage 1 through to completion. The work will require attendance at a Panel, if necessary, plus any additional work on the assessment that consequently arises.It is estimated that each assessment will require approximately 8 visits to be carried out, at 3 hours per visit, and approximately 30 hours of additional work to complete the assessment, although this is dependent upon the complexity of the case.The timescales and progress of assessments will be monitored through supervision. Either the Fostering Team Manager or the Assistant Fostering Team Manager will supervise form F Assessors and, whilst it is not necessary to work from within an office at Wrexham County Borough Council’s Children’s Social Care department, unless preferred, Assessors will be required to attend the premises for supervision sessions to be held.Suitability for RoleApplicants must have the following in order to be considered:•a relevant professional qualification in social work, together with valid HCPC registration•experience of undertaking assessments of potential foster carers•a good knowledge of the fostering regulations, child care law and safeguarding issues•the ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills•flexibility and the capability to use initiative•the ability to work under pressure to ensure deadlines are met and to enable the smooth running of the service•experience of an Independent Fostering Agency would be advantageous•a full driving licence or the ability to travel across the county boroughThe fee per assessment will be no more than £2,000, dependent upon the complexity of the case.
