Pentyrch is a self contained village on the Western outskirts of Cardiff with a resident population of approximately 3,500. The village has had a GP surgery for the last twenty years with a list size of approximately 2,100 but the practice has become vacant within the last year. The practice is currently directly managed by Cardiff & Vale University Health Board and the list stands at 1,100. The percentage of Pentyrch residents with a limiting long term illness is, at 14.3%, lower than the Cardiff average of 18.82%. 43% of the resident working population are defined as professional/ Managerial in comparison with 28% in Cardiff as a whole. The establishment of a permanent GP Partnership in Pentyrch would afford considerable opportunity to increase the registered list beyond its original 2,100 by registering patients in the village itself and within the practice’s defined boundaries, which includes the prosperous area of Radyr to the south and Creigiau to the westGeneral Medical Services are currently provided from purpose built premises but the availability of this building cannot be guaranteed by the Health Board. Applicants should therefore be able to demonstrate that they are able to provide or develop suitable premises as part of their application.Cardiff & Vale University Health Board (UHB) has a very extensive range of enhanced services which will provide supplementary income to the global sum and QOF funding available to the successful applicant.Actual or notional rent would be reimbursed in line with the assessment of the District Valuer. Business Rates would also be reimbursed. Please confirm the name of the clinical governance lead for the practice and the child protection lead.
