Provision of Insurance Services
Descriptions
Provision of Insurances to SMBC and SCT Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council was created in 1974 to administer the newly formed Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell, in the West Midlands county of England. The council offices are located at the Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury Town Centre, which opened in 1989.[1] Sandwell is divided into 24 Wards and is represented by 72 ward councilors. Elections to the council take place in three out of every four years, with one-third of the seats being contested at each election. Since the Local Government Act 1985, Sandwell Council has effectively been a unitary authority, serving as the sole executive, deliberative, and legislative body responsible for local policy, setting council tax, and allocating budget in the district; although public transport, fire and police services, and the local government pension fund (West Midlands Pension Fund) are jointly run by the seven metropolitan boroughs of the West Midlands county. Sandwell Children's Trust Limited. Sandwell Children's Trust is a new, not-for-profit, operationally-independent organisation that has been established by the Council following the statutory direction of the Secretary of State as a company limited by guarantee for the purposes of delivering children's social care services in Sandwell. The Trust is wholly owned by the Council and is a "Teckal" compliant company (for the purposes of the public procurement rules). The Council has entered into a ten-year contract with the Trust for the delivery of children's social care services. Building on recent improvements, the Sandwell Children's Trust continues to put in place additional improvements in children's social care to reverse the fragility and weakness historically apparent in service delivery. The Trust is driving a sustainable model of delivery and improvement designed to bring good and outstanding services to the Borough - innovating where possible and using the freedoms of the Trust approach to develop a new and sharper focus to the difficult issues the community has faced. The Contracting Authority are approaching the end of their existing Long-Term Agreements with insurers for Material Damage, Contractor All Risks, Combined Liability, Fidelity Guarantee, Directors & Officers, Motor, School Journey, and Computer covers and in line with Public Procurement legislation, they are tendering their insurance portfolio in time for renewal on 1st October 2021. The contract period is for 3 years + option to extend a further 2 years. The tender is a further competition under the YPO Insurance Placement Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) Ref No: 000978
