All ten Health Bodies in Wales (the Consortium) use a centralised Oracle E-business Procurement and Finance system for a wide range of business activities, such as purchase to pay. This service runs on Dell clustered hardware, with Oracle EBS running on Linux 6 operating system. The service is hosted by the NHS and managed by a third party managed service provider. At present the Consortium is on version 11.5.10.2 of the Oracle E-business suite system and is presently planning a re-implementation onto version 12.1.3 with our third party managed service provider. There are no plans to migrate all existing R11 transaction data onto R12, apart from certain pre-agreed ‘open’ transactions.The re-implementation will take place on new production hardware, thereby not impacting on the existing R11 E-business environments which will continue to operate in parallel. The aim is to migrate to R12 by 1st April 2014 at the latest.
