Descriptions
Scottish Government's Data Centre and Network Services (DCNS) Team requires a supplier to provide the maintenance and support services in relation to the Riverbed Steelhead WAN Acceleration devices for the Scottish Government and associated bodies.DCNS are responsible for the SG network communications and data centres. This includes ensuring that agencies and public bodies from further afield have connection to the SCOTS Network. Loss of connectivity is viewed as high impact to outlying agencies.The Riverbed system is a Wide Area Network (WAN) optimisation hardware which is deployed throughout the SG estate. It is used to reduce issues such as latency and helps to streamline network communications, thereby increasing productivity. It supports the SCOTS network and is geographically spread in 104 locations across the entire country. The total user base to be supported is currently around 8 500 users. Riverbed is the market leader in WAN optimisation.Contractors must be a member of the RASP (Riverbed Authorised Support Partner) program.
