Awarded

Provision of over-encapsulated Sitagliptin (Januvia), Pioglitazone (Actos) and Cangliflozin (Invokana) for a double-blind randomised clinical trial

Descriptions

The University of Exeter is seeking a suitable and capable provider of investigational medicinal product for use by its Medical School as part of a diabetes clinical trial. The Unviersity of Exeter Medical School is undertaking a MRC-funded study aiming to develop a stratified approach in Type 2 diabetes that will result in more effective use of glucose lowering therapy. The Trimaster trial, sponsored by the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E FT) is a randomised double-blind Cross-Over trial of three standard diabetes therapies, a DPP4 inhibitor, SGLT2 inhibitor and thiazolidinedione as third line therapy in 600 patients with type 2 diabetes. It aims to directly test potential stratification by comparing a patient’s response (in terms of glycaemia, weight change, hypoglycaemia and patient reported outcomes) to these three glucose-lowering treatments.
