Provision of Private Hearing Aids Service

Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board is advertising a business opportunity to work in partnership with a Commercial Hearing Aid supplier for NHS patients to get best access to commercial hearing aids should they so wish.The supplier will prescribe and supply hearing aids privately, and has to be qualified as a professional hearing aid dispenser and registered with the Health Professions Council Act 01/04/2010, in order to prescribe hearing aids. The NHS and private units must be easily seen by patients to be distinct services. It must be made clear to patients and other visitors that this is a private service.The contractor shall establish and operate a service in respect of the dispensing of Private Hearing Aids within the Audiology Departments at Maesteg, Neath Port Talbot, Princess of Wales and Singleton Hospitals. The service shall be provided at times following agreement with both parties, and as outlined in the Invitation to Tender. The contract shall be for an initial period of one year, with an option to extend for a further period of up to two years (if mutually acceptable to both parties), and subject to review after six months.A service will be required to be operational from July 2011.
