ONR has a strategic aim to maintain a pool of expertise on nuclear graphite technology that is independent of the major nuclear licences and provides support to enable it to mount a constructive challenge of the licensee's safety cases by performing independent analyses in the work areas of (i) Statistical analysis and (ii) Development of probabilistic models of brick cracking using mechanistic techniques.
