Provision of Service to Supply Compounded ‘Specials’ Unlicensed Medicines.

Unlicensed compounded medicinal products are purchased to meet the clinical needs of patients for which no licensed medicine is available. Participating Trusts within the East Midlands and Walsall have insufficient capacity to compound sufficient unlicensed medicines to meet their needs, therefore a supplier/supplier(s) are sought who are able to offer a high quality, cost-effective service to supply unlicensed compounded medicines. Trusts will buy the unlicensed compounded medicines to hold as stock, to meet the anticipated future needs of their patients. The unlicensed medicines will, therefore, be required to be batch produced and quality assured. All products must be supplied with a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis and including sterility testing where appropriate. The aim of this tender is to:— Provide significant improvements in the supply of unlicensed compounded medicinal products, and specifically to achieve optimisation and standardisation of the formulation, presentation and labelling of products to improve safe handling and reduce risks to patients and staff,— Quality assured products with good shelf lives,— Approved product specifications to facilitate quality assurance at trust level,— Reliable and consistent deliveries,— Competitive pricing,EMPC, acting on behalf of participating Trusts, reserves the right to award to more than 1 supplier to achieve the aims of this tender.
