Provision of Support and Informal Family Learning Opportunities and Additional Family Support to Syr

The continuing conflict in Syria has forced approximately 6.5 million people from their homes, displaced 2.7 million people to neighbouring countries and millions more are in dire need of humanitarian aid within Syria. Local Authorities in the UK were asked to participate in the Home Office funded Scheme by co-ordinating accommodation and support to Syrian refugees: The Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS).Wrexham County Borough Council has committed to resettling a total of 20 families over 4 years (2016-2020). Cross department and multi-agency support co-ordinated by the Council has been provided to ensure effective implementation of the scheme.Wrexham County Borough Council seeks tenders for a service to provide informal family learning opportunities and additional family support that will complement the existing provision offered to families within the scheme.•The service is required to actively engage in the Wrexham Asylum Seeker and Refugee Group and to work in partnership with the local authority and other community, voluntary sector and faith groups.•Deliver weekly after-school family learning sessions during school term time.•Deliver a weekly school holiday Fun Club afternoon activity to improve language through play.•Provide regular family support subject to specific family needs.Contract PeriodThe contract period will commence on the 10 August 2018 and will cease on the 9 August 2021. There will be an option to extend the contract for up to 2 years in yearly increments.
