Provision of Support on the Review of PSR3 related to C & I Ageing and Obsolescence

Under LC 15, ONR is required to approve the PSR3 submissions, in this case for Hinkley Point B and Hunterston B Power Stations. This approval therefore requires ONR technical assessors in all the relevant disciples to review the submission against relevant good and best practice, ONR SAPS and TAGs and national and international standards. This project is to support ONR in undertaking the Control and Instrumentation (C&I) review of the PSR3 submissions in the area of ageing and obsolescence. The ONR require technical expertise to be provided with prior knowledge and experience of national and international standards including good and best practice related to C&I ageing and obsolescence. The task can be broken down into three main areas:- Task 1 – Outline the National and International Standards and good and best practice for C&I Ageing and Obsolescence This is an overview covering all the relevant C&I Ageing and Obsolescence standards and practice. Task 2 – Review of PSR3 Documents This task it to assess the following document PSR3 documents against the standards and practices outlined in task 1. •PSR3 Codes and standards review Appendix B (9 pages) •Ageing and lifetime management Appendix C (7 pages) The purpose of the review will be to assess if all relevant national and international standards and good and best practice has been considered within the PSR3 documents referenced above. Task 3 – Description of any gaps If there are any gaps found then the final report should briefly outline the standard or practice which has not been included and how this could have impacted the PSR3 document.
