Descriptions
The service provision to recover vehicles and other property, including storage, secondary movements and release. Other property will include but is not limited to large and heavy items of plant, equipment, and machinery. The total contract is split into 5 geographical lots, interested parties can bid for one or more lots. Vehicle recovery contractors must be capable of light recovery (vehicles under 3.5 tonnes MAM) and heavy recovery (vehicles over 3.5 tonnes MAM). Consideration will not be given to tenders that cannot provide a service for both light and heavy recovery. In addition the contractor must have an ability to provide some lower level traffic management services and to handle minor vehicle fluid spills on the carriageway. The requirement is to provide the service provision to meet the operational and strategic policing needs of the Police in the County of Essex. The lots have been selected taking into account the Essex policing model, resilience and the distance of travel to incidents for potential contractors and for access to vehicles by the organisation and the public. Disposal services may be requested from the appointed contractors of this procurement process to cover the transition period encountered while the organisation tenders for Disposal services separately.
