Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) Children’s Social Care is responsible for providing services to children/young people with disabilities or additional needs and their families.WCBC seeks to provide these services through the procurement of the Wrexham Children’s Services and Families First Disability Framework (the Disability Framework).WCBC seeks to create a framework of providers who are able to provide a range of services, across three lots. These are:¿1. Children and young people• Services to support children and young people’s social development, providing an opportunity to try new activities, develop independent living skills, support regular social groups and socialise with peers, for children andyoung people with disabilities and additional needs, services will be required to provide the following:a) Regular social groups for children aged 5 – 18, in compatible age/disability groupings, providing an opportunity to try new activities, develop independent living skills and socialise with peers.b) Individual support for 11 – 25 year olds to help with key transitionsc) Holiday play schemes and holiday activities for disabled childrend) Volunteering opportunities for children and young people with disabilities and additional needs2. Parents• To support Parents of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, services will be required to provide the following:a) Training for parents in understanding and managing specific disabilities and additional needs.b) Confidence-building group interventions for parents of children and/or young people with disabilities and additional needsc) Regular activity-based groups for parents of children with disabilities and additional needs to try new activities, provide and receive peer support and advice and guidance.3. Families• To support Families of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, services will be required to provide the following:a) One-off activities and days out for families of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, including siblings, parents / carers, grandparents etc.b) Regular activity-based groups for families of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, including siblings, parents / carers, grandparents etc.c) Regular social groups for disabled children and their familiesd) Provision of quality support for families of children / young people with disabilities and additional needs, For example:i. respite / one to one support for disabled children (all levels ofneed)ii. babysittingiii. general support for the family (for example with days out, events and daily activities)WCBC is looking to appoint providers to this framework who meet the criteria detailed and submit a successful application.
