Service 1: -Energy Advisory, Design and Technical Services -Electricity transmission and distribution system Brief Description of Requirement The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) seeks to understand the impacts of market, technology, and policy uncertainties on the deployment of flexible/ dispatchable capacity for electricity out to 2035, and the potential impacts on security of supply. We are looking to gather evidence on the likely capacity deployment profiles for a range of flexible technologies out to 2035, and to understand the type of risks associated with achieving these profiles. Through the proposed research project, BEIS is also looking to review a list of modelling assumptions to better inform the generation costs of unabated gas during the net zero transition. Thirdly, BEIS seeks to develop an assessment of a quantification of the impact of the risk of non-delivery of capacity on security of supply and decarbonisation.
