Marine Power Systems (MPS) is developing flexible ocean energy extraction technology that can harness wave energy (WaveSub), wind energy (WindSub) and combined wind and wave energy (DualSub). All the machines share a common floating platform technology developed by and proprietary to MPS that has cost and deployment advantages over other floating platform approaches.This work package is focused on the preliminary and detailed design of the Power Take-Off (PTO) system for a full scale WaveSub prototype device. The PTO system for the full-scale prototype WaveSub will be rated at 1.5MW and will feature a hydraulic primary system, ultimately exporting grid compliant electricity. The WaveSub prototype machine will be tested in real sea conditions in 2022/3.A contractor is being sought to design the PTO system, including specification of the hydraulic, electrical and control aspects. Support will also be needed to develop a representative simulation model of the PTO system to assess the performance and acceptability of the solution.
